Kleinschönebeck is one of the two medieval founding villages of the present-day municipality of Schöneiche. The first documented mention is found in the "Land Book of the Mark Brandenburg" as Schonebeke, dated to the year 1375. Its layout as a typical Angerdorf (village with a central green) has remained almost unchanged in the street layout, the parceling of the properties, and the two village ponds.
