"Really Frankfurt? An Audio Walk in Search of Historical Authenticity"

What exactly is authenticity? Although we have all heard or used the term before, the concept of authenticity is elusive. It appeals to our longing for something unadulterated and genuine, and it enhances the value of people, places, or objects when we deem them authentic. But how do we arrive at this judgment?

Discover the well-known Frankfurt neighborhoods and their stories anew with the audio walk "Really Frankfurt? An Audio Walk in Search of Historical Authenticity" in an active and informative way. Join us on an exploratory walk with stops in Bockenheim (starting at the Senckenberg Museum) and around the former campus of Goethe University, in the downtown area between Hauptwache and the New Old Town, and in the East End from Börneplatz to the current site of the European Central Bank.

During this acoustic walk, you can immerse yourself in your surroundings and discover new facets of the Main metropolis. Additionally, each chapter is supplemented with materials such as pictures or videos, which allow you to make historical comparisons at our stops or provide further exciting information.

Walk at your own pace: We suggest a recommended order for the individual chapters. You can embark on your journey of discovery sequentially or in separate stages. You can pause the audio walk at any time, allowing you to split it into several shorter walks or incorporate a coffee break.

A project of the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, a member of the Leibniz Association, funded by the Leibniz Research Alliance Historical Authenticity / Value of the Past. The route of this audio walk is accessible to all.
