Politics, Sex & Rock’n Roll – Tests of Strength in Public Spaces
Listing Overview
The street as a space for everyone, visible to all, a venue for protest and repression, sometimes malleable, sometimes regulated. Many forces have vied for control over the Grün/Sedan neighborhood: bureaucrats at the drawing board, large factories and small artisans, financially powerful real estate companies. During National Socialism, evictions, Aryanizations, and deportations profoundly changed the district. Starting in the 70s, it was squatters, pragmatists, and idealists who fought against the gentrification of the neighborhood.
In the audio guide in Grün, Anna and Arthur take you on a tour through the district. For years they kept their mouths shut, but now they are spilling the beans. Also featured are people who have squatted, protested, bought, danced, calculated, renovated, and refurbished.
