Listing Overview
Take a journey through the history of the village of Altranft and experience the significant transformation from an independent estate farming village to a district of the town of Bad Freienwalde. As a workshop for rural culture, the Oderbruch Museum Altranft is part of this process. It reflects on the past to explore what characterizes life and work in the village and the rural area today, both in Altranft and throughout the Oderbruch region. In this spirit, the path leads from historical buildings through the old manor in the village center, past the train station, through a single-family housing estate, and to the business park at the southern edge of the village, the current economic hub. At selected locations along the way, people share insights into the village's history and present through conversations.
The starting point is at the castle, or at the entrance gate to the castle park outside of opening hours. The route is approximately 4.7 km long and takes about 3 hours to complete. Directed and recorded by Bertram Weisshaar, Atelier Latent, in 2018, with sounds by Martin Klingenberg. The project was commissioned by the Oderbruch Museum Altranft. The transformation of the "Museum Altranft – Workshop for Rural Culture" is supported by "TRAFO – Models for Culture in Transition," an initiative of the German Federal Cultural Foundation, and by the Märkisch-Oderland district, with support from the town of Bad Freienwalde (Oder).
