Why did German merchants have a colony in what is now Venezuela in the 16th century? Why did so many Germans emigrate to Chile in the 19th century, and how is that connected to the displacement of the Mapuche from their traditional lands? What role do companies in Latin America play, whose products we can buy all over central Berlin? Do state actors always live up to their human rights responsibilities? There are many historical and contemporary connections between Germany and Latin America, which are reflected in many corners of Berlin. The audio walk invites you to explore some of these connections. It takes us from Schöneberg and Mitte to Prenzlauer Berg. Most stops can be reached on foot, but between stops 2 and 3, as well as 8 and 9, it is recommended to use the U2 subway line or a bicycle.
