BOOK FAIR PODCAST
An audio walk from the Main River to the fair, featuring French-language literature and Frankfurt anecdotes. Our idea for the 2021 Frankfurt Book Fair is, for once, not to read – well, not immediately – but first to walk, with an "audio walk" from the banks of the Main River to the main entrance of the fair. The approximately 90-minute program in German is full of Frankfurt anecdotes with French-speaking authors and excerpts from selected works. With few exceptions, the writers featured in the program have one thing in common: they have all been to Frankfurt. Where exactly or what happened to them there, you will find out while walking and listening to "Book Fair Podcast."
The program, conceived by Dominique Petre, the cultural officer of the Institut français Frankfurt, is ideally listened to on the designated walk from the Main River to the fair. However, "Book Fair Podcast" can, of course, be listened to anywhere. In 20 stages of a few minutes each (total length of about an hour and a half), "Book Fair Podcast" offers both an exploration of Frankfurt and an exploration of French-language literature. Crime, young adult, comics, essays, and fiction: many genres showcase the great richness of literature from the French-speaking world.
