We are delighted to have you join us again today for our audio walk through historic Forth. The general development of our area took place between 1050 and 1150. During this time, the settlements of Büg and Forth gradually emerged. The founding is attributed to the noble family of the Imperial Barons of Gotzmann. Büg developed as a manorial knight's estate, while Forth grew as a small hamlet to support the knightly estate. As the village of Forth expanded and spread to the other side of the passing country road, the town was split into two parts. From then on, it was governed by different authorities and belonged to various jurisdictions. Later, one side remained Catholic while the other became Protestant.
