Listing Overview

In the beautiful Swiss canton of Valais, by the Aletsch Glacier, lies the car-free mountain village of Bettmeralp, accessible only by cable car. As early as the 1980s, Kurt Felix and Paola discovered this idyllic spot for their hidden camera pranks on the show "Do You Understand Fun?". From 1,800 meters above sea level up to the Bettmerhorn, numerous southern slopes invite visitors to ski in the winter.

Whether in winter for skiing or in summer for hiking, there is plenty to feast your eyes on: from the classic mountain village idyll with cows and alphorns to spectacular glacier and peak panoramas featuring the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks, the famous Matterhorn, or the crystal-clear Bettmersee. Nature lovers and mountain enthusiasts will find just as much to enjoy here as those who appreciate the region's culinary specialties. There are options for day visitors, backpackers, as well as accommodations in lodges, hotels, and chalets.

This tour aims to bring you closer to some of the enchanting corners of this region, whether on foot or on skis. For 35 years, I have been coming here almost every year, enjoying the escape from the hustle and bustle of the valley and being charmed anew by this delightful mountain world each time.
