Listing Overview

The multifaceted image of Leipzig is always intertwined with the Leipzig Cotton Spinning Mill. This walk leads through the area, past studios and galleries, to the non-commercial art center Halle 14 and the exhibition hall. It discusses how this old industrial site achieved its internationally recognized profile for visual arts and how this is connected to Leipzig. Voices of other protagonists add aspects from different perspectives. The starting point is the Archiv Massiv. Participants include Bertram Schultze, managing director of the Leipzig Cotton Spinning Mill, Michael Ludwig from Luru Cinema, Tobias Reinicke from the Lithographic Studio, Frank Motz from Halle 14, Wednesday Farris from Kreative Spinner, Kristina Semenova from LIA, Hannah Moser from the Art Library, and Elke Hannemann from the Eigen + Art Gallery. The concept and direction were created by Bertram Weisshaar from Atelier Latent in 2012. The recording and sounds were produced by Marek Brandt. This audio walk was made possible with the support of the Leipzig Cotton Spinning Mill Management Company.
