SPEAKING vs. SILENCE #1: The Gate

This audio walk was developed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the storming of the Stasi headquarters in Berlin. In a co-production between the citizens' committee "15th January" and the theater collective LUNATIKS, a scenic audio walk was created that addresses the events at the Ministry for State Security of the GDR on January 15, 1990. The so-called "storming of the Stasi headquarters" serves as a starting point for the still relevant question: Should we have access to the files or not?

The story of the couple Heiko and Julia, whose fate is inextricably linked with the MfS, is told. They delve into different time periods, walk the same paths as the protagonists once did, and gradually approach the "truth." In the past, long before '89/'90, inexplicable things happened to Heiko. He seeks certainty and eventually files a request for access to the files.

Featuring Sebastian Julius Boës, Dr. Christian Booß, Till Ernecke, Tarik Goetzke, Janette Mickan, Sebastian Schlemminger, Christine Rollar; children's voices: Livia Amelie & Luc Bennett Goetzke; transcription: Jan Weidner.

The prologue begins at the information point on the grounds of the former MfS (House 22). Here, all audio files of the audio walk can be downloaded for free via a free Wi-Fi, so a stable internet connection is no longer necessary during the walk. Follow the map to find the next station. Once there, please start the next track.

Please always be aware of your surroundings and any potential dangers while listening. The LUNATIKS team is not liable for any damages resulting from the use of the audio walk.
