Welcome to Weimar, a city whose history is reflected in the monuments of Weimar Classicism, the architectural testimonies of the Weimar Republic, and the Bauhaus. However, we invite you to leave behind the splendor of the city center and turn your gaze to the periphery, particularly to Weimar North, the largest district of Weimar beyond the train station.

The history of Weimar North began as a socialist utopia with the dream of affordable, comfortable housing as the foundation of a socially equitable community. But Weimar North is also shaped by military occupation, immigration, and commercialization. These are stories of people and events that overlap in time and space.

Forget the learned linearity of history. Become researchers of the district, wander through streets and meadows, and inquire about the places' own histories. How does life in the prefabricated buildings work? Do people meet while shopping? What flowers does the son-in-law like best? How do people stay fit in old age, and what was it like with the Russians? Open your eyes to the hidden and discover the marginal notes of this city.
