And opposite, the brass band is playing
Listing Overview
The audio walk "And Across the Street, the Brass Band Plays" takes participants through the streets surrounding the former concentration camp site in Oranienburg, exploring traces of past and present violence and the connections between them. The occasion for this is the construction of a dormitory for police trainees on the camp grounds. The protagonist of the audio walk guides participants through landscapes of violence and her own research. Through observations of the current cityscape and eyewitness accounts, she and the listeners imagine scenes that could have taken place along these paths and locations from then until now. Her narratives remain incomplete, as she stands with the listeners, here and now, knee-deep in history. For the audio walk, you only need headphones and a smartphone. The protagonist will show you the way.
