Listing Overview
This audio walk takes you through the city of Kiel, narrating the German colonial history in Tanzania at various statues and locations around the city. The goal is to raise awareness of historical events that, despite their significance, are almost forgotten today. The tour begins at the Bismarck Statue in Hiroshima Park and ends at the Seegarten Bridge in Kiel Harbor. The two protagonists from Kiel, Hava and Charlotte, guide you through nine stations highlighting key milestones in German-Tanzanian colonial history. The audio walk is based on interviews with experts, artists, and accounts from contemporary witnesses. It playfully conveys historical knowledge by featuring voices from both Tanzania and Germany, from the past and present, allowing space for questions and encouraging reflection. We invite you to join Hava and Charlotte in Kiel on this journey of discovery.
