Listing Overview

Some call Leipzig "the better Berlin," while others refer to it as "Hypezig" (André Herrmann). Indeed, for some time now, more and more "hipsters" have been flocking to the city. This audio walk narrates the most incredible stories about the infamous hipster spots in the western part of Leipzig. Authors from the Leipzig reading stages "Schkeuditzer Kreuz" and "West" share their encounters with mate drinkers, Swabian real estate tourists, and genuinely authentic locals in ribbed undershirts. Put on your horn-rimmed glasses and join the walk! The starting point is the Academy of Fine Arts at Wächterstraße 11, and the route covers about 6 km. Contributors include Julius Fischer, Hauke von Grimm, André Herrmann, Roman Israel, Linn Penelope Micklitz, Kurt Mondaugen, Michael Schweßinger, Matthias Spengler, and Franziska Wilhelm. The walk was directed by Franziska Wilhelm and Kurt Mondaugen, and produced by Bertram Weisshaar from Atelier Latent in 2015. Sound design was done by Marek Brandt. Audio recordings 7, 8, and 10 were kindly provided by MonophonStudio. Photos were contributed by Franziska Wilhelm. This audio walk was created as part of the "B_Tours Leipzig - Movement in Urban Space" festival, jointly organized by the Leipzig Dance Archive e.V. and B_Tour GbR. It was first presented as a live reading stage walk with an audience during this program. The B_Tours Leipzig 2015 festival, and thus the production of this walk, was supported by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony.
