Listing Overview

In the fall of 2022, Fabian Eckert and Melanie Eis from the Bidigi e.V. association, along with members of the Children's and Youth Parliament of Tempelhof-Schöneberg, explored Bayerischer Platz in Schöneberg. During their visit, they toured the "Places of Remembrance" created by artists Renata Stih and Frieder Schnock in 1993. This memorial, featuring informational plaques on street signs, commemorates the persecution of Berlin's Jewish community during the Nazi dictatorship. They were accompanied by Magdalene Rösch from the Quartier Bayerischer Platz e.V. association, who regularly guides school classes to these sites, and Christian Betz from Berlinaudio, who recorded impressions and ideas both on-site and in the studio. These recordings were used to create an audio walk designed to remind people that everyone can take action against antisemitism, racism, and prejudice.

The non-profit association Bidigi e.V., which has been dedicated to developing digital interactive learning environments and media installations on historical educational topics such as antisemitism, antiziganism, racism, and conspiracy theories since 2021, placed special emphasis on inclusive and diversity-sensitive approaches in the implementation. The production of the audio walk was funded as part of the Partnership for Democracy Tempelhof-Schöneberg through funds from the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth under the federal program "Living Democracy!"

The idea and concept were developed by Dr. Melanie Eis and Fabian Eckert, with production and direction by Christian Betz from Berlinaudio. In the studio, the voices were provided by Anna Lindner, Ange Celia Kammga Mbiameni, and Hannah Rosenkranz. On-site contributions were made by Emily Korte, Maike Hoffmann, Magdalene Rösch, Carlo Tullio, Leia Haarhuis, Spirou Theodoridis, and Jakob Westhoff.
