Listing Overview

The Stoltze Museum of the Frankfurter Sparkasse was opened in 1978 and relocated to the heart of the new Frankfurt Old Town in 2018. It commemorates the Frankfurt freedom poet, early democrat, and dialect author Friedrich Stoltze (1816-1891), who grew up in the Frankfurt Old Town. The permanent exhibition on the life and work of the writer can be seen in the stairwell of the Weißer Bock house, Market 7. In the fireplace room of the Hinterhaus zur Goldenen Waage, which adjoins the Weißer Bock, original furniture, paintings, and items from Stoltze's household are on display. The third floor hosts rotating special exhibitions about Stoltze and his era. Admission is free.

The audio guide was developed and narrated by students from the Karl-Popper-Schule in Frankfurt. It was dramaturgically advised and produced by Maria Bonifer and Juliane Spatz from hr2-Kultur. The project was initiated and supported as part of the "MUSEUMSLAUSCHER" project by the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen.
