Listing Overview
The audio walk provides an initial introduction to the Buchenwald Memorial. As a narrative with many voices and perspectives, it welcomes guests to the memorial and accompanies them for about an hour on a specific route through Buchenwald. It begins at the edge of the memorial's parking lot, in the southeastern corner, in front of the mailbox there. The further path is described in detail during the audio walk.
"Buchenwald. An Audio Walk" was created in 2020/21 as part of the project "Education in Buchenwald: Shaping Together." Young adults with very different life experiences and skills—people with and without refugee or migration backgrounds—engaged with the history of Buchenwald and its contemporary relevance to develop the audio walk. To listen to it, you need a smartphone or an MP3 player and a pair of closed headphones.
Supported by the Foundation "Remembrance, Responsibility, and Future" as part of the funding program "Migration and Memory Culture." In cooperation with "Arbeit & Leben Thüringen." A production of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation, 2021.
